Juventus
Juventus seem to be back. The last two years have been a mess for the club in the wake of the match fixing scandal that they and their former director were at the heart of.
The club are known as the Vecchia Signora, The Old Lady, of Italian football and were founded in 1897. Originally they wore pink shirts, but became the Bianconeri (the White and Blacks) after adopting Notts County's strip in 1903.They won their first two league titles two years later. Juventus then won five consecutive titles between 1930-35 and were an intergral part of the national team for the World Cups of 1934, 1938, 1978 and 1982.
Before the Calciopoli scandal broke in the summer of 2006, Juventus had never been relegated from Serie A. They were the most successful side in the country having won 29 championships, nine Coppa Italias, two European Cups, three UEFA Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, two European Super Cups and four Italian Super Cups and a Cup Winners Cup. Two of the Serie A titles were taken from them and they were relegated to Serie B.
They were forced to sell off many of their stars but kept some of their core players including Buffon, Nedved, Camoranesi, Trezeguet and Del Piero. Despite the relegation and also a point deduction they managed to win Serie B and gain promotion back to Serie A at their first attempt. Immediately they finished third and qualified for the Champions League.
This season they are in the top three and have qualified for the Champions League knock out stages. They may not have a team of stars this season, but Ranieri has a team, who are fighting for each other and pushing Inter and AC Milan.
