The club were founded in 1908 and it took just two years for the side to win their first Italian title. It was the first of 15 Scudetti, and many Italians jeer the team for being the great under achievers. However, they are the only team to have never been relegated from Serie A and they have also won three UEFA Cups, five Coppa Italias and three Italian Super Cups. They had a twenty year barren patch until Trapattoni guided them to the league title in 1989.

Inter were the team that benefitted most from the Calcioploi scandal as they were awarded the 2005-06 Scudetto. They then took advantage of the fact Juventus were relegated and several other clubs were docked points by winning another league title in 2006-07. They won it again the season after, but this wasn't enough to save Roberto Mancini his job, who has now been replaced by Jose Mourinho.

So far this season they top the table and are in a strong position to qualify for the knock out stages of the Champions League.
