Champoluc
Champoluc is at the top of the Ayas valley, and is reached by a long, winding road from the Aosta valley. The picturesque village is set around a church and mountain river. The old quarter was built in the fifteenth century, but the area has expanded in the recent years as skiing has developed.
The ski area combines three resorts, Champoluc, Gressoney and Alagna and makes up 100km of skiing. The real fun begins when the snow conditions allow skiers and boarders to get out and enjoy the fabulous off piste in the Monterosa area.
Nightlife can be a little limiting as the village is small and attracts British famalies rather than youngsters. However, if you like to mix it up with the Scandies, they are here on mass and definitely like to party in the apres ski.
