Olympic Four Man Bobsleigh
Maybe you've seen the film Cool Running or seen the bobsleigh on TV and always fancied a go. Well now is your chance! Alpine Apres gives you the once in a lifetime opportunity to go down the Torino Winter Olympic 2006 Bobsleigh Track in a four man bobsleigh.
This is the most modern and technically challenging course in the World. The track at Sansicario is 1435 metres long, has 19 turns and the bobsleigh can reach speeds in excess of 135km per hour.
We load you up into the 4 man bobsled with a driver from the Italian or French national teams, or one that has recently retired from competition. He sits at the front of the specially modified bobsled and controls the steering and the brakes. The track team then push you down into the course and you'll have some of the most intense 62 seconds of your life.
As you enter the track in the bobsleigh you will be going quite slow and wondering what all the fuss is about. Gravity has not kicked in yet! As you go into turn three the bobsleigh is suddenly up on the side of the track and you start to question what you have let yourself in for.
The middle part of the course is like the best rollercoaster ride you've ever been on as you look over or around the driver's helmet, anticipating the corners and leaning into them. You'll realise you're getting faster and faster on the decent as the sides of the track start to blur and the turns come quicker and quicker.
As you fly through the fast chicane you'll lose count of the turns and start to think you must be reaching the end soon. The last couple of turns the G-Force will be so strong you will be struggling to keep your head up to see what is going on. Some of you might be keeping your head down by this point! Then suddenly you feel the bobsled is heading up an incline and slowing down, you start to breathe again and finally you come to a halt at the finish line.
All this will have taken around 62 seconds. Make sure you check your finish time on the clock. The adrenaline will be pumping and you'll be a bundle of emotion as you realise what you've just done!
